Our Story

The story of Costa's Kitchen is a longstanding dream of the Costa brothers, Anthony ("Rocky"), and Michael. 

We come from a family with long-standing culinary roots in this area. Our father was Michele (Michael) Bruno Costa, known as Mike to everyone. 

In 1961 Mike and his older sister Fay "Costa" DiPiro, started their career together at the Nest restaurant,a well-known eatery in Mattapoisett. 

In 1963, Fay and Mike decided to open their own "little" kitchen in the North end of New Bedford, called The Knotty Pine. Our cousin, Evelyn Bettencourt and family, continue Aunt Fay's withstanding traditions at Fay's Restaurant in South Dartmouth. 

In 1965, Mike eventually moved on and opened the Fairhaven landmark, Mike's Restaurant, on Route 6. Our father is commonly referred to as, "the original Mike". 

In 1995, our cousin, Ronald (Ron) Stapleton and his wife, Sandy began their dream by opening their restaurant in Freetown, MA called The Nephews. 

We grew up in a family of 8 brothers and sisters. 

We witnessed our father, Mike Costa, masterfully cooking and creating delectable dishes, while our beloved mother, Gale, held down the fort with her magnificent skills at keeping us in line (or at least trying). Costa's Kitchen is an homage to these local legacies. With a desire to continue our family tradition and share our culinary expertise, we have established a restaurant that showcases our Italian heritage and infuses it with our own bold and innovative twists. Inspired by the rich flavors at our Italian table, our menu combines traditional recipes with modern flavors. Passionate about the art of cooking, we make it a point to constantly experiment with new flavors and ingredients. We are dedicated to creating a menu that surprises and delights our customers, while staying true to the roots of our family recipes. In Addition to our family's exceptional cuisine, our restaurant also offers a warm and inviting atmosphere Whether you're dining with family, friends, or enjoying a romantic evening, you can expect exceptional service.
